Alternates to Ethernet

UniVoxx phones typically require an ethernet connection close to the phone. There are three alternates if an ethernet connection isn't available

DECT Phones

These phone work with a Base that provides a signal wirelessly to the handsets.

Each base can connect up to 10 Handsets around the perimeter. A repeater can be used to reach a longer range; up to 6 repeaters per base.

• Indoor Range: 50m (in ideal conditions)

• Outdoor Range: 300m (in ideal conditions)

Power Line Adapters

A Power Line Adapter connects your device using your home/office electrical wiring. Sometimes this device is also called a Powerline-Ethernet Adaptor because it still uses an Ethernet Cable. If the device/phone is located far from an ethernet connection, use the Adapter to provide the device/phone with a connection..

How does the Power Line Adapter work?

The PLA comes with two separate adaptors, that plugs into the electrical outlets.

  1. Plug the first adaptor into an outlet near the router then, connect the adaptor to the router via an Ethernet cable.
  2. Plug the second adaptor into an outlet near the devices then, plug the devices into the adaptor.

Wi-Fi Phones

These are phones equipped with the capability to connect to the internet via a Wi-Fi network. The device uses radio waves to transmit the packets to a wireless receiver. The receiver passes the information over the internet to the call processor like an ordinary VoIP call.
